I think it is not a good way to improve one's english.
whatching movie in CD or online movie,
while watching the movie,you can stop it and check the word's meaning.

note: "at home"

There're some ways to improve you english.
1).watch the news in english
2).read more english books (i can be a story book)
3).sing the english song =.=

In my opinion,
U can read more magazines that are full of topics u interested in
and then see more usages of vocabulary,pattern
maybe u can get progress in reading and writing by the above way
